Our mission is to build safer, healthier communities by reducing preventable firearm tragedies across Tennessee.

Voices for a Safer Tennessee (Safer TN) is nonprofit (501c4), nonpartisan group of 30,000+ citizens working together to promote policies that support firearm safety and responsible gun ownership. Our coalition includes Republicans, Democrats and Independents from all 95 counties in the state.

Safer TN began forming in the days following The Covenant School shooting in Nashville on March 27, 2023. Since then, our efforts have resulted in a growing awareness of the urgent need for firearm safety laws in Tennessee. We have outlined three firearm safety priorities that we continue to work toward every day: comprehensive background checks, safe storage requirements and temporary transfer laws. In addition, we actively oppose loosening firearm safety laws that could make this public health crisis worse.

Through building relationships and having open conversations, we are seeing incremental progress. But, we still have a long way to go.
