Our mission is to build safer, healthier communities by reducing preventable firearm tragedies across Tennessee.

Voices for a Safer Tennessee (Safer TN) is nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of nearly 35,000 Tennesseans working together to promote policies and educational programs that support firearm safety and responsible firearm ownership. Our supporters include Republicans, Democrats and Independents from all 95 counties in the state.

Safer TN began forming in the days following The Covenant School shooting in Nashville on March 27, 2023. Since then, our efforts have resulted in a growing awareness of the urgent need for firearm safety in Tennessee. We have outlined three firearm safety priorities that we continue to work toward every day: expanded background checks, secure storage education, and temporary transfer laws that would require due process. We oppose firearm safety laws that could make this public health crisis worse.
