Step 1. Who’s on My Ballot for the 2024 Elections in Tennessee?
Tennessee has one of the lowest voter turnout rates in the country. This year, Tennesseans will elect the people who make laws about firearm safety. All 99 seats in the Tennessee House of Representatives, 16 of the 33 state Senate seats, one U.S. Senate seat and all seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for election.
The primary is August 1. Tennessee does not require you to declare a party when you register, but you must request either a Republican or Democratic ballot when you vote in a primary. Only Republican candidates will appear on a Republican primary ballot, and only Democratic candidates on a Democratic primary ballot. Not all primaries are contested. General election races on August 1 (e.g., sheriff, school board, circuit court judge) will appear on both Republican and Democratic ballots.
