Dr. Dave Bhattacharya, MD

Dr. Dave Bhattacharya, MD

Director of Pediatric Trauma, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger

Dr. S. Dave Bhattacharya is a board-certified pediatric surgeon and the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director at Erlanger Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. He has performed countless life-saving procedures and has led initiatives to prevent pediatric trauma, including reducing firearm injuries among children.

A proud Tennessean, Dr. Bhattacharya was born and raised in Memphis. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, completed his surgical residency at Duke University, and pursued a pediatric surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. His work has been recognized for advancing both biomedical research and clinical care.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Bhattacharya is a longtime advocate for firearm safety and is deeply committed to promoting equity, education, and the well-being of children. He lives in Chattanooga with his wife and daughter.
