Jennifer Hellmer

Jennifer Hellmer

Policy Advisor

Jennifer Hellmer is an attorney and Tennessee native who grew up in Dunlap. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and later attended law school in Florida, going on to practice criminal defense for many years in Florida and Wisconsin.

On March 27, 2023, Jennifer was near The Covenant School during the active-shooter response and witnessed students being evacuated to safety. The experience, combined with her legal background and longstanding commitment to community safety, led her to become a founding member of Voices for a Safer Tennessee.

Jennifer has helped guide the organization’s legal and policy work since its founding and now serves on staff as Policy Advisor. She lives in Williamson County with her husband and children.
